Quartz and Pyrite Inclusions In Shungite

As a natural product, Shungite contains variations in colour, veining, and shading. It is common for Shungite to contain inclusions, pits, or fissures due to its geological formation. Some customers may think these are scratches but this is not the case. This is not a scratch or a product fault, but rather a sign of authenticity.

These inclusions make it hard or nearly impossible for Shungite to be faked. If you have these inclusions you know it is a genuine piece. As we are all aware, there is a lot of fake product around, the inclusions of pyrite and quartz are one way of knowing the piece you have purchased is genuine.

Shungite contains quartz and pyrites, which are naturally occurring, making each piece unique. Each and every item will be unique in its own way. If you purchase an unpolished piece or an engraved item, you are likely to see these veins. Although polished pieces are less likely to show these veins of pyrite and quartz, they are still present. The benefits of Shungite are amplified when Quartz is present, as it is with all other Crystals. Shungite is said to be more energetic when Pyrite is present, due to Pyrite's ability to energize.

The actual Shungite piece delivered may differ from the sample shown on our website. Shungite Masters do not consider these to be flaws or faults in the product as they are naturally occurring.

Here are a few examples of engraved products showing quartz and pyrite veins. When you examine the piece closely, you will notice that the veins are easily visible where the engraving has been done, but are less visible where it has been polished.
